Prior to joining the team at EIVSC Dr. Grozdanic was an assistant professor and staff ophthalmologist with the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Iowa State University. Dr. Grozdanic also has the distinguished honor of being the first veterinary ophthalmologist in North America to perform artificial corneal transplants in a veterinary patient and he has developed numerous novel diagnostic and treatment routines for different canine, feline and equine ocular diseases.
In addition to being the staff ophthalmologist at EIVSC Dr. Grozdanic is also currently serving as the Director of Animal Research for the US Department of Veterans Affairs Center of Excellence for Treatment and Prevention of Vision Loss and is working as a consultant for diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases in service dogs for the US Department of Defense and the US Secret Service. Dr. Grozdanic is actively consulting for several national and international pharmaceutical and ophthalmic instrument manufacturing companies with a goal of advancing medical and surgical care of ophthalmology related diseases in veterinary and human patient populations.
Dr. Grozdanic has authored 20 scientific articles and one book chapter in the field of veterinary and comparative ophthalmology.
The vision of our ophthalmology service is to continue to expand the range of medical and surgical services in the future, so veterinary patients in eastern Iowa can receive the most sophisticated veterinary ophthalmology care in the nation right here in our facility. Needless to say, we are very fortunate to have Dr. Grozdanic on our team.
