Special Interests & Why I Love What I Do

Pets are family members who cannot speak for themselves, so it is important that clients and the veterinary medical team work together to provide the best treatment for them. I enjoy collaborating with a truly talented team of medical professionals who consistently work together to deliver the best patient care possible to our patients and clients.

My special interests include wound management, soft tissue surgery, managing critical patients, and disaster response. It is extremely gratifying to watch a patient walk out of the hospital as a seemingly new pet after being admitted in a critically ill status. One of my favorite things about working emergency medicine is the number of varying diseases I get to manage in my patients. From one day to the next, it is never the same.

Born and raised in Texas, I moved to Florida to complete both my undergraduate and veterinary education. I relocated to Iowa so that my husband, Alan, could complete a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Iowa. We could not be happier to have ended up in such a wonderful place.

We have a Spaniel Mix named Sandy who is the queen bee in our house. She is followed incessantly by two new puppies, a Cavapoo named Finn and a Shichon named Elmo, who want nothing but to play with her.

I enjoy spending my days off running, swimming, reading books, traveling to new places, and exploring our new home in the Midwest. When able to, I love volunteering as a disaster response team member to help animals in need.
